1. A memory card, which is capable of connecting to a host system and receiving an operation voltage from said host system, comprising:

  • system information including operation voltage information for said memory card;

    a nonvolatile memory; and

    a controller which controls operations associated with said nonvolatile memory and comprises a voltage generating circuit,wherein said nonvolatile memory is capable of operating at a first voltage level,wherein when said operation voltage information indicates that said memory card is operable at said first voltage level and said memory card is supplied with a voltage at said first voltage level as said operation voltage from said host system, said controller performs control to deactivate said voltage generating circuit and supplies said voltage at said first voltage level to said nonvolatile memory, andwherein when said operation voltage information indicates that said memory card is operable at a second voltage level different from said first voltage level, and said memory card is supplied with a voltage at said second voltage level as said operation voltage from said host system, said controller performs control to activate said voltage generating circuit for generating voltage at said first voltage level from said voltage at said second voltage level and supplies said generated voltage to said nonvolatile memory.
