1. A rotor for an electrical machine, comprising:

  • a plurality of conductors forming rotor field windings; and

    a rotor body including a plurality of slots for receiving the plurality of conductors, wherein not more than one conductor is disposed in each of the plurality of slots; and

    at least one peripherally arranged element configured to secure the plurality of conductors in the plurality of slots against forces occurring during operation of the rotor, wherein each of the plurality of conductors has a width and a height, the width being less than the height, wherein a ratio of the width to the height of each conductor is from 1;
