1. A connector for medical use, adapted to facilitate the flow of fluid therethrough, said connector comprising:

  • an inlet port;

    an outlet port; and

    a valve assembly including a resiliently deformable material that defines a fluid path between the inlet port and the outlet port, the resiliently deformable material of the valve assembly having an inlet end with a bore, the valve assembly configured such that it may be located within the inlet port at which location the bore is closed and the fluid path defined by the valve assembly has a volume, the valve assembly also configured such that it may be displaced from the inlet port at which time the volume of the fluid path defined by the valve assembly is at least as great as the fluid volume defined by the valve assembly when the inlet end is disposed in the inlet port;

    wherein at least one of the inlet port, the outlet port and the valve assembly is formed to include an antimicrobial agent.
