1. A method for the synthesis of a conducting polymer, the method comprising the steps ofdissolving polystyrene sulfonate in deionized water at a pH of 1.0–

  • 2.0 to produce a solution;

    adding a monomer, said monomer being selected from the group comprising aniline and pyrrole, to the solution;

    adding polyethylene glycol-hematin to the solution;

    adding hydrogen peroxide in small increments to the solution;

    stirring the solution to complete the synthesis of the conducting polymer;

    effecting dialysis of the synthesized conducting polymer; and

    drying the conducting polymer under a vacuum.
