1. A computer-readable medium stores computer codes to direct a computer to function in a specified manner, comprising:
- instructions to automatically identify a first pattern and a second pattern, wherein said first pattern and said second pattern correspond to two different patterns selected from an outlier pattern, a step pattern, a random pattern, a trend pattern, and a periodic pattern associated with data comprising a multi-dimensional database, wherein said multi-dimensional database comprises a plurality of data vectors, and said instructions to automatically identify said first pattern and said second pattern include;
(i) instructions to apply a first statistical test to said plurality of data vectors to identify a first data vector of said plurality of data vectors, said first data vector exhibiting said first pattern; and
(ii) instructions to apply a second statistical test to said plurality of data vectors to identify a second data vector of said plurality of data vectors, said second data vector exhibiting said second pattern; and
instructions to present said first pattern and said second pattern that are identified.

Abstract
An apparatus to identify patterns in a multi-dimensional database is described. In particular, a computer-readable medium to direct a computer to function in a specified manner is provided. The computer-readable medium comprises instructions to automatically identify a plurality of patterns associated with data comprising the multi-dimensional database and instructions to indicate the plurality of patterns that are identified. Exemplary patterns that can be identified include an outlier pattern, a step pattern, a random pattern, a trend pattern, and a periodic pattern.

5. A computer-readable medium stores computer codes to direct a computer to function in a specified manner, comprising:
-
instructions to define a plurality of candidate patterns for a multi-dimensional database, wherein said plurality of candidate patterns includes two different candidate patterns selected from an outlier pattern, a step pattern, a random pattern, a trend pattern, and a periodic pattern; instructions to facilitate selecting from said plurality of candidate patterns, a candidate pattern to be identified in said multi-dimensional database; instructions to automatically identify said candidate pattern in said multi-dimensional database; and instructions to present said candidate pattern that is identified. - View Dependent Claims (6, 7, 8)
