(a) a first set of instructions which are capable of configuring the processing arrangement to obtain a distribution of the main magnetic field generated by the MRI system; (b) a second set of instructions which are capable of configuring the processing arrangement to obtain at least one shim magnetic field distribution generated by at least one shim coil of the MRI system; and (c) a third set of instructions which are capable of configuring the processing arrangement to determine information associated with a shim current of the MRI system based on a relationship between the main magnetic field distribution and the at least one shim magnetic field distribution.

32. A system for homogenizing a magnetic field of an MRI system provided for an entire area of at least one object, comprising a processing arrangement configurable to:

(a) obtain a distribution of information associated with at least one shim magnetic field generated by at least one shim coil of the MRI system; and (b) determine data associated with a shim current of the MRI system as a function of the distribution, wherein the shim current is capable of being provided for a region of interest that is smaller than the entire area.

33. A system for homogenizing a magnetic field of an MRI system, comprising a processing arrangement configurable to:

(a) obtain a first distribution of information associated with the main magnetic field generated by the MRI system; (b) obtain a second distribution of information associated with at least one shim magnetic field generated by at least one shim coil of the MRI system; and (c) determine information associated with a shim current of the MRI system based on a relationship between the first and second field distributions, wherein the shim current is capable of being determined in a non-iterative manner.
