1. An X-ray apparatus comprising:

  • an X-ray exposure unit for exposing a predetermined surface segment of an exposure plane with X-rays;

    a digital flat panel X-ray detector, having a rectilinear detector region with a detector size that is active to simultaneously detect said X-rays anywhere within said detector region along two directions of said detector region perpendicular to one another;

    a drive arrangement connected to said digital flat panel X-ray detector for moving an entirety of said flat panel X-ray detector, and thus an entirety of said detector region, in a continuously periodic motion to detect said x-rays within a rectilinear area larger than said detector size; and

    a displacement unit connected to said exposure unit for moving said exposure unit for displacing said surface segment synchronously with said X-ray detector in said exposure plane.
