1. A pressure sensor for sensing a fluid pressure, the pressure sensor comprising:

  • a chamber partially defined by a flexible membrane, the chamber containing a fluid at a reference pressure, the membrane being at least partially formed from conductive material;

    a conductive layer formed in the chamber, the conductive layer being substantially parallel and adjacent the membrane such that the membrane and the conductive layer form the electrodes of a capacitor, and deflection of the membrane relative to the conductive layer caused any pressure differences between the reference pressure and to fluid pressure, will in turn change the capacitance of the capacitor; and

    ,associated circuitry connected to the capacitor for converting the capacitance into an output signal indicative of the fluid pressure;

    wherein,the associated circuitry is adapted to be powered by electro-magnetic radiation transmitted from a point remote from the sensor.
