A vibration damping device for use in a suspension system of an automotive vehicle, adapted to be disposed at a linking portion between a body of the vehicle and a suspension member that connects and supports a wheel on the body, the vibration damping device comprising a load sensing unit adapted to sense a signal corresponding to a load exerted between the body and the suspension member,wherein the vibration damping device comprises a rubber bushing including a first mounting member fixable to the body of the vehicle, a second mounting member fixable to the suspension member, and a rubber elastic body elastically connecting the first and second mounting members, andwherein the load sensing unit comprises a deforming plate installed straddling a gap between the first mounting member and the second mounting member, and a sensor attached to the deforming plate for sensing an amount of deformation of the deforming plate.
