1. An active matrix display comprising:

  • a plurality of pixels;

    a thin film transistor provided for each of the pixels;

    a pixel electrode provided for each of the pixels;

    a liquid crystal layer disposed on the pixel electrodes;

    a floating electrode disposed to cover a region between two adjacent pixels and forming a capacitive coupling with each of the pixel electrodes of the two adjacent pixels;

    a plurality of data lines connected with corresponding thin film transistors; and

    an insulating layer disposed between the floating electrode and the two corresponding pixel electrodes,wherein the floating electrode is disposed partially under each of the two corresponding pixel electrodes such that no wiring, other than the pixel electrodes, is disposed between the liquid crystal layer and the floating electrode, andthe insulating layer is in contact with the floating electrode and the data lines.
