A compound according to claim 1, wherein A² is substituted with 0-3 groups selected from the group consisting of halogen, C_1-6 alkyl having 0-3 substituents selected from halogen, C_1-6 alkoxy, cyano, hydroxyl and C_3-8 cycloalkyl, C_1-6 alkoxy having 0-3 substituents selected from halogen, C_1-6 alkoxy, cyano, hydroxyl and C_3-8 cycloalkyl, C_3-8 cycloalkyl, C_1-6 alkylthio and a group represented by the formula:

12. A method for treating neuralgia, comprising administering to a patient a pharmacologically effective dose of a compound according to claim 1.

13. A method for treating diabetic neuralgia, HIV neuralgia, postherpetic neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, stump pain, post spinal injury pain, thalamic pain or post-stroke pain, comprising administering to a patient a pharmacologically effective dose of a compound according to claim 1.

14. A method for treating low back pain, inflammatory pain, arthralgia, postoperative pain or cancer pain comprising administering to a patient a pharmacologically effective dose of a compound according to claim 1.

15. A pharmaceutical composition comprising a compound of claim 1, and a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.
