System and method for prioritizing and communicating subscriber voice and data information

1. A system for communicating information associated with one or more subscribers, comprising:
- a splitter coupled to a plurality of subscriber line ports to separate local data signals from local voice signals;
a connecting link;
a first switching system coupled to the connecting link to communicate remote voice signals and remote data signals using the connecting link;
a second switching system coupled to the connecting link and comprising;
a first processor coupled to the splitter to receive the local voice signals;
a second processor coupled to the splitter to receive the local data signals; and
an interface to receive the remote voice signals and remote data signals using the connecting link, and to receive local voice signals from the first processor and local data signals from the second processor, wherein local voice signals have a different priority than remote voice signals and local data signals have a different priority than remote data signals.

Abstract
A system (10) for communicating information associated with one or more subscribers includes a connecting link (50). A first switching system (14) coupled to the connecting link (50) communicates remote voice signals (60) and remote data signals (62) using the connecting link (50). A second switching system (14) coupled to the connecting link (50) includes an interface (56) to receive the remote voice signals (60) and the remote data signals (62) using the connecting link (50). The second switching system (14) also includes subscriber line ports (17) for receiving local voice signals (52) and local data signals (54) from subscribers. The interface (56) of the second switching system (14) selectively communicates the highest priority available signals using an outgoing link, voice signals (52, 54) having higher priority than data signals (60, 62). In a more particular embodiment, the remote voice signals (60) may have higher priority than the local voice signals (52).

using a connecting link, communicating remote voice signals and remote data signals from a first switching system coupled to the connecting link; receiving the remote voice signals and remote data signals at an interface of a second switching system coupled to the connecting link; separating local data signals from local voice signals at a slitter coupled to a plurality of subscriber line ports; receiving the local voice signals at a first processor and the local data signals at a second processor from the splitter; communicating the local voice signals and local data signals from the first processor and the second processor to the interface; and selectively communicating the highest priority available signal from the interface using an outgoing link, wherein local voice signals have a different priority than remote voice signals and local data signals have a different priority than remote data signals. - View Dependent Claims (15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26)
