1. An apparatus for down-converting an electromagnetic signal, comprising:
- (1) a frequency down-conversion module to down-convert and spectrally spread an input signal to produce a down-converted spread spectrum signal, wherein said frequency down-conversion module under-samples said input signal according to a control signal, wherein said control signal comprises a coded sequence; and
(2) a multiplier that de-spreads said down-converted spread spectrum signal according to said coded sequence.

Reducing or eliminating DC offset voltages and re-radiation generated when down-converting an electromagnetic (EM) signal is also described herein. (1) a frequency down-conversion module; (2) a first multiplier coupled to said frequency down-conversion module; (3) a pulse shaping circuit coupled to said frequency down- conversion module; (4) a second multiplier coupled to said pulse shaping circuit; (5) a code generator coupled to said second multiplier; (6) an oscillator coupled to said second multiplier; and (7) an amplifier coupled between said frequency down-conversion module and said first multiplier.

8. A method of down-converting an electromagnetic signal, comprising the steps of:
