Abstract
The invention includes systems and methods for converting absolute pressure data acquired in anatomical environments to gauge pressure data using an implant configured to monitor pressure. The implant is configured to communicate with an external controller, which is configured to communicate with a remote microprocessor that includes real-time barometric pressure data for one or more geographic locations.

receiving an acoustic signal from a biosensor implanted in the body; deriving absolute pressure information from the acoustic signal; establishing a communications link with a remote source comprising real-time barometric pressure information for more than one geographic location; through the communications link, receiving real-time barometric pressure information from the remote source; deriving gauge pressure by subtracting a pressure value corresponding with the real-time barometric pressure information from a pressure value corresponding with the absolute pressure information, and factoring in a correction factor based on the actual altitude of the bio sensor; and displaying said gauge pressure on a display. - View Dependent Claims (23, 24)

determining the geographic location of the medical device; receiving real-time barometric pressure information from a remote source, said remote source comprising real-time barometric pressure information for a plurality of geographic locations, the real-time barometric pressure information corresponding to a geographic location of the medical device; correcting the real-time barometric pressure information to factor in a correction factor based on the actual altitude of the medical device; and transmitting an acoustic signal to the medical device, the acoustic signal comprising the corrected real-time barometric pressure information.
