1. A device, comprising:

  • device circuitry positioned in an enclosure;

    contacts configured to receive a battery the contacts being in electrical communication with the device circuitry such that a battery received by the contacts can power the device circuitry;

    a receiver positioned in an enclosure,the receiver being configured to output electrical energy in response to receiving energy from a transmitter located outside of the enclosure, andthe receiver being in electrical communication with the contacts such that electrical energy output by the receiver can be received at the contacts;

    an identifier configured to determine whether a battery received by the contacts is a primary battery or a secondary battery,the identifier being configured to respond to the identifier determining that the battery is a secondary battery by allowing electrical energy output by the receiver to be received at the contacts at level that recharges the secondary battery, andthe identifier being configured to respond to the identifier determining that the battery is a primary battery by reducing the electrical energy received at the contacts from the level that recharges the secondary battery.
