- adding a first dot of ink;
receiving a tap input after the first dot of ink has been added;
responsive to receiving the tap input, determining whether the first dot of ink was recently added;
responsive to determining that the first dot of ink was recently added, adding a second dot of ink; and
responsive to determining that the first dot of ink was not recently added, determining whether the location of the tap input is at a selectable object.

The present invention relates to a system, method and medium for receiving and acting upon user input. In one embodiment, the user may only have access to a limited input device, like a stylus. Using the present invention, a user is provided with intuitive responses from the system based on inputs from the limited input device.

responsive to a tap input, determining whether first ink existing prior to the tap input was added within a predetermined period of time prior to the tap input; and responsive to an outcome of the step of determining, choosing between either adding second ink at a location of the tap input or selecting an object at the location of the tap input, depending upon whether the first ink was added within the predetermined period of time.
