1. An attachable device for measuring biological characteristics or biopotential from the lower layers of the epidermis of the skin comprising:

  • a substrate device comprising a substrate having an upper and lower surface and an array of penetrators protruding from the upper surface of the substrate, andan adhesive collar for mounting the substrate device to the skin;

    wherein the penetrators are individually addressable and capable of piercing through the stratum corneum or outer layer of the epidermis and transmitting an electric potential from the lower layers of the epidermis which can be measured.
