- a communication interface for outputting information to an optical communication link;
a location determiner for determining, automatically and without manual intervention, information indicative of a present geographic location of the apparatus; and
said location determiner coupled to said communication interface for outputting the determined location information to the optical communication link;
wherein said location determiner includes a further communications interface for receiving, automatically and without manual intervention, further information from a source external to the apparatus; and
the further information includes information produced by a GPS component.
