1. An intervertebral stabilization device, comprising:

  • an implant having two chambers, the implant being operable to be inserted at least partially between two vertebral bodies and maintain at least one mutual degree of freedom of the vertebral bodies when inserted therebetween;

    an extra-discal member having two chambers separated by a piston and being operable to be disposed posterior to said implant when said implant is at least partially positioned between the vertebral bodies, the extra-discal member being configured to dampen displacement between the vertebral bodies at least in an intervertebral flexion direction when disposed posterior to said implant;

    said chambers of said implant and said chambers of the extra-discal member containing a fluid; and

    wherein the device further comprises means for placing said chambers of said implant and said chambers of said extra-discal member in fluidic communication said means including a first conduit providing fluid communication between one of said chambers of said implant and one of said chambers of said extra-discal member in a first direction and a second conduit providing fluid communication between another of said chambers of said implant and another of said chambers of said extra-discal member in a second direction.
