the map having a first portion and a second portion, the first portion having a boundary disposed between the first portion and the second portion;
the first portion including a route and an indicia;
wherein the input information moves the indicia relative to the map; and
wherein the on board unit maintains the indicia within the first portion.

7. A system for moving an indicia with respect to a map comprising:

a display configured to display a map, a route on the map, and an indicia; an input port configured to receive input information; the system comprising a plurality of predetermined directions; the indicia being proximate to the route and having a local position on the route; the route having a local direction of the route towards a destination; one of the plurality of predetermined directions being most closely aligned with the local direction of the route towards the destination and being defined as a first predetermined direction; a second predetermined direction being adjacent to the first predetermined direction; and wherein an input corresponding to either the first predetermined direction or the second predetermined direction moves the indicia along the route towards the destination. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
