1. A method for operating a computing device to provide thermal management, the computing device having a processor for performing instructions, and the computing device being configured for controlling a fan, said method comprising:
- operating the processor to process instructions;
obtaining one or more temperature indications of the processor;
activating the fan to a first speed when one or more of the temperature indications indicate that primary thermal management is required;
subsequently increasing the speed of the fan to a second speed when one or more of the temperature indications indicate that primary thermal management is still required even after the fan has been activated at the first speed, the second speed being greater than the first speed; and
thereafter reducing performance of the processor when one or more of the temperature indications indicate that supplemental thermal management is required even after the fan has been activated.

9. A method for operating a computing device, the computing device having a processor for performing instructions, and the computing device being configured for controlling a fan, said method comprising:
-
operating the processor to process instructions; obtaining one or more temperature indications of the processor; activating the fan to a first speed and subsequently increasing the speed of the fan to a second speed in view of one or more of the temperature indications obtained, so as to provide a first thermal management; and thereafter reducing performance of the processor when at least one subsequent temperature indication obtained indicates that a second thermal management is required even after the fan has been activated. - View Dependent Claims (10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17)
