1. A method for ablation of myocardial tissue comprising:

  • providing a hand-held instrument having a first hollow needle coupled to a first fluid delivery lumen for delivery of a first fluid and a second hollow needle coupled to a second fluid delivery lumen for delivery of a second fluid;

    selecting a desired line of ablation on a surface of the tissue;

    applying the first needle to the tissue at a first portion of the desired line of ablation such that it penetrates the tissue;

    applying the second needle to the tissue at a second portion spaced apart from the desired line of ablation such that it penetrates the tissue;

    delivering a predetermined amount of the first fluid into the penetrated tissue to facilitate ablation of the first portion of tissue along the desired lesion line; and

    delivering a predetermined amount of the second fluid into the penetrated tissue to protect the second portion of tissue spaced apart from the desired lesion line.
