- receiving handwritten characters in an input region on a display;
determining an average height of the received characters; and
adjusting the position of one of a baseline, a center line, or a top line of the input region, independantly of each other, based on the average height of the received characters.

Aspects of the present invention relate to the creation of an ink font. Based on characteristics of handwritten characters, the collection of characters may be scaled so as to adjust the size of the font to match predefined size values or relationships.
