1. A medical cardiac imaging system, comprising:
- a signal generator adapted and configured to obtain a signal from at least one electrocardiograph (ECG) sensor;
imaging equipment comprising an intra-body ultrasound catheter having a linear phased array transducer adapted and configured to obtain a plurality of ultrasound images of a cardiac feature of interest; and
a processor programmed with an operating mode adapted and configured to;
receive the signal from the signal generator;
analyze the signal to determine a presence of a particular complex and intermittently recurring ECG wave form;
trigger the imaging equipment to obtain at least a plurality of images of the cardiac feature of interest upon determining the presence of the particular complex and intermittently recurring ECG wave form; and
correlate the plurality of images with the signal.

Abstract
A medical imaging system is provided which includes a signal generator configured to obtain a trigger signal corresponding to a timing of interest, imaging equipment configured to obtain a plurality of images of a feature of interest, and a processor programmed to correlate the plurality of images with the trigger signal. Also provided is a method of correlating a plurality of medical images by obtaining a trigger signal of a timing of interest, obtaining a plurality of images of a feature of interest, and correlating the plurality of images with the trigger signal.

6. A method of removing speckle noise from ultrasound medical images of a heart, comprising:
-
obtaining a trigger signal of a timing of interest using at least one electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor; obtaining a plurality of ultrasound images of a feature of interest; correlating the plurality of images to select a subset of images associated with the timing of interest in the trigger signal; examining each point in each of the subset of images to determine if an echo is present at the point; and generating a composite image by assigning a pixel value to each point in the composite image if it is determined that an echo is present at the point in more than one image in the subset of images. - View Dependent Claims (7, 8, 9, 10)

11. A software program resident on a computer readable medium containing instructions for causing a medical imaging system to perform steps of:
-
obtaining a trigger signal of a timing of interest using at least one electrocardiogram (ECG) sensor; obtaining a plurality of ultrasound images of a feature of interest; correlating the plurality of images to select a subset of images associated with the timing of interest in the trigger signal; examining each point in each of the subset of images to determine if an echo is present at the point; and generating a composite image by assigning a pixel value to each point in the composite image if it is determined that an echo is present at the point in more than one image in the subset of images. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15)
