1. A chemical imaging system comprising a chemical imaging detection system and a visible imagery system, wherein said chemical imaging detection system comprises:

  • a) an illumination source for illuminating an area of a sample using light in the wavelength selected from the group consisting of near infrared wavelength, infrared wavelength and visible wavelength;

    b) a device for collecting a spectrum of transmitted, reflected or emitted light from said illuminated area of said sample and producing a collimated beam therefrom;

    c) a detector for collecting wavelength filtered images of said collimated beam; and

    d) a processor unit containing an algorithm for processing the wavelength filtered images wherein the algorithm deconvolutes the spectrum into one or more subspectra of transmitted, reflected or emitted light from at least two light transmitting, reflecting or emitting compounds.
