1. A stent for isolating a diseased portion of a intra-cranial vessel within the body, where the vessel is connected to branch vessels in close proximity to the diseased portion, said stent comprising:

  • a self expanding rolled sheet of resilient material having an open frame with a plurality of frame members, where at least one frame member is sized and dimensioned to occlude the diseased portion of the intra-cranial vessel and isolate the diseased portion of the intra-cranial vessel from blood pressure within the intra-cranial vessel; and

    an opening between the frame members sized and dimensioned to overlie the branch vessels when the stent is placed within the vessel;

    wherein the self expanding rolled sheet has a diameter of less than about 5 mm when rolled.
