1. A method of selecting a diet and/or exercise program comprising the steps ofdetermining initial dimensions of a person seeking to undertake such a program;
- creating a model in a computer of said persons body shape;
establishing a proposed program for said person;
modifying said model to create a future body model in a computer representing the results which might be attained at a future time after following the persons proposed program;
deriving from said future body model a computer generated image of said person at said future time; and
displaying said image to said person, to aid said person in selecting said program or another course of action,said method including the further step of modifying, at some point in the program, the future image of the person at a further point in the program to reflect current progress or problems in meeting goals originally set.

Abstract
The disclosed invention relates to methods for assisting and motivating persons with respect to various dietary and exercise regimens they might undertake, providing an interactive, iterative, “what-if” type of procedure where someone can see their predicted appearance in the future, also in clothes of their choice, and balance this with realistic expectations of what they may be able to achieve in terms of modification of their physical shape as a result of a planned course of action. This in turn leads to new methods of purchasing and manufacturing apparel and dietary or exercise related items in the present and future. A unique life size display screen, a “digital mirror” so to speak, with optional touch capabilities is also disclosed for input to, and display of, the computer aided models used, as well as inputs from a persons body sensed by TV cameras. The invention also has potential application to for diagnosis and/or treatment of certain mental and other disorders, and in other situations where a form of companionship may be provided the user.

A method for motivating a person undertaking an exercise and/or dietary program comprising the steps of providing to said person an image of themselves in the future as a result of said exercise and/or dietary program, said image generated from a computer model of the person in the future created using present information concerning said person and said program, wherein said model is dressed in clothes of interest to said person.
