1. An intravascular cutting device comprising:

  • (a) a housing having a longitudinal slot;

    (b) a cutting unit comprising;

    (i) a distal securement member;

    (ii) a proximal securement member; and

    (iii) a cutting wire having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of the cutting wire attached to the distal securement member, the proximal end of the cutting wire attached to the proximal securement member;

    (c) an activation wire attached to the distal securement member;

    (d) a positioning securement member secured to the housing, the positioning securement member located proximal of the cutting unit; and

    (e) a biasing member having a distal end and a proximal end, the distal end of the biasing member attached to the proximal securement member of the cutting unit, the proximal end of the biasing member attached to the positioning securement member;

    wherein the cutting unit is biased to a non-cutting configuration.
