1. An implantable septal occluder prosthesis for treating a septal defect, comprising:
- a stent body member having luminal and abluminal surfaces thereof and a central annular opening along a central longitudinal axis of the stent body member;
a graft member covering at least a portion of at least one of the luminal and abluminal surfaces of the stent body member;
a proximal flange and distal flange, wherein both the proximal flange and distal flange define opposing ends of the stent body member and project radially outward and away from the central longitudinal axis of the stent body member; and
an occluding membrane for occluding the septal defect, the occluding membrane coupled to the stent body and completely occluding the central annular opening such that fluid does not pass through the occluding membrane.

7. A cardiac septal occluder prosthesis for treating a septal defect, comprising:
-
a. a structural support member comprising a plurality of strut members having interstices between adjacent strut members, the strut members and interstices defining a luminal surface, an abluminal surface and a central annular opening along a central longitudinal axis of the structural support member; b. proximal and distal flange sections of the structural support member which project radially outward from proximal and distal sections of the structural support member, defining an intermediate support region between the proximal and distal flange sections; and c. an occluding member for occluding the septal defect, the occluding member positioned within the intermediate support region of the structural support member transverse to the central longitudinal axis of the stent and occluding the central annular opening of the structural support member such that fluid does not pass through the occluding member, and wherein the occluding member further comprises a graft member. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13)
