Abstract

A method of making a medical device includes compressing a prosthesis, e.g., a therapeutic agent-carrying stent or stent-graft, to a catheter without contacting an outer surface of the prosthesis, e.g., by electromagnetically compressing the prosthesis.

Claims

1. A method of making a medical device, the method comprising:

securing a medical balloon to a catheter; and

subsequently securing a marker band under the balloon to the catheter.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the band is secured to the catheter without mechanically contacting the band.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the band is secured to the catheter electromagnetically.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the band is visible by magnetic resonance imaging.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the band is formed of a material having dysprosium or gadolinium.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the band is formed of a material selected from the group consisting of gold, platinum, tungsten, and tantalum.
