Abstract
The present invention provides a novel β-glucosidase nucleic acid sequence, designated bgl3, and the corresponding BGL3 amino acid sequence. The invention also provides expression vectors and host cells comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding BGL3, recombinant BGL3 proteins and methods for producing the same.

1. A recombinant host cell comprising a deletion or insertion or other alteration in the Trichoderma β

2. A recombinant host cell wherein the recombinant host cell has been modified such that production of a functional Trichoderma β
- -glucosidase 3 enzyme is decreased or eliminated by said recombinant host cell wherein said enzyme is encoded by a nucleic acid sequence selected from the group consisting of;
(a) a nucleic acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO;
1;
(b) a nucleic acid sequence which encodes or is complementary to a sequence which encodes a beta-glucosidase polypeptide having at least 95% sequence identity to the amino acid sequence having SEQ ID NO;
3 and SEQ ID NO;
2;
(c) a nucleic acid sequence which encodes or is complementary to a sequence which encodes a beta-glucosidase polypeptide having the amino acid sequence having SEQ ID NO;
3 and SEQ ID NO;
2;
(d) a nucleic acid sequence which encodes or is complementary to a sequence which encodes a beta-glucosidase polypeptide having the amino acid sequence comprising SEQ ID NO;
2; and
(e) a nucleic acid sequence comDrisinp SEQ ID NO;
4, or the complement thereof, wherein said mutation is deletion or insertion or other alteration to said nucleic acid sequence encoding the said Trichoderma β
-glucosidase 3 enzyme.
