1. A method of imaging a contrast agent within a body of a patient, comprising:
- transmitting one or more high intensity signals to a destruction plane in a portion of the body to destroy the contrast agent;
waiting a predetermined time period;
receiving one or more transmitted low intensity signals which are echoed from an image plane, which is narrower than the destruction plane in the portion of the body to image the contrast agent; and
imaging said contrast agent;
wherein the imaged contrast agent comprises substantially only reperfused contrast agent.

Abstract
The present disclosure relates to contrast imaging. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to apparatus and methods for contrast imaging in which the elevation beamwidth is controlled to reduce image artifacts, which result from contrast agent being carried into the image region by motion or respiration and not by reperfusion.

7. A system for imaging a contrast agent within a body of a patient, comprising:

a transducer transmitting and receiving high intensity and low intensity signals from the body, wherein the high intensity signals are transmitted to destroy the contrast agent with a wider beamwidth than the low intensity signals which image the contrast agent; a controller unit operatively communicating with the transducer providing time delays to the transmitted and received signals, wherein the transmitted signals are transmitted into the body and the received signals are echoed from the body; and an imaging unit operatively communicating with the controller unit imaging the contrast agent; wherein the imaged contrast agent comprises substantially only reperfused contrast agent. - View Dependent Claims (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18)
