Abstract

A database for a telecommunication service includes a first record for a first number having a predetermined NXX, and a second record for a second number having the predetermined NXX. The first record includes an indication that a call having an automatic number identification associated therewith is acceptable for the first number. The second record includes an indication that a call having at least one of an automatic number identification and a calling party identification associated therewith is acceptable for the second number. Associated methods and systems for providing a telecommunication service for the predetermined NXX are disclosed.

Claims

1. A database for a telecommunication service comprising:

a storage medium accessible by a service control point;

a first record for a first NXX number stored by the storage medium, the first record providing a directive that only calls having an automatic number identification and a determined station type associated therewith are acceptable for completion directly to the first number and a call to the first NXX number not having either an associated automatic number identification or the determined station type are not to be completed, wherein the first NXX number is converted by the service control point to a network address by a processor of the telecommunication service before the directive is provided.

2. The database of claim 1 wherein the first NXX number is a 555 NXX number.

3. A method of providing a telecommunication service comprising the steps of:

receiving a query associated with a first NXX call to a first number not having an associated automatic number identification;

converting the first NXX call to a network address with a service control point;

determining that the first NXX call accepts only calls having an automatic number identification and a determined station type associated therewith;

inhibiting completion of the first NXX call to the first number when the first number does not receive calls that do not have either an associated automatic number identification or the determined station type.

4. The method of claim 3 further comprising the steps of:

receiving a query associated with a second NXX call to the first number, the second NXX call including an associated automatic number identification; and

completing the second NXX call to the first number.

5. The method of claim 4 wherein the step of completing the second NXX call includes sending a response message to a service switching point.

6. The method of claim 3 further comprising the steps of:

inhibiting completion of the third NXX call to the second number because the second number does not receive calls that have neither an associated automatic number identification nor an associated calling party identification;

receiving a query associated with a fourth NXX call to the second number, the fourth NXX call having automatic number identification and calling party identification associated therewith; and

completing the fourth NXX call to the second number.

7. The method of claim 6 wherein at least one of the steps of inhibiting completion of the first NXX call and inhibiting completion of the third NXX call includes sending the call to a terminating announcement.

8. The method of claim 6 wherein the steps are ordered steps.

9. The method of claim 6 wherein at least one of the steps of completing the second NXX call and completing the fourth NXX call includes sending a response message to a service switching point.

10. The method of claim 6 further comprising the steps of:

receiving a query associated with a fifth NXX call, the fifth NXX call to a third number, the fifth NXX call absent of both automatic number identification and calling party identification associated therewith; and

completing the fifth NXX call to the third number because the third number accepts calls having neither an associated automatic number identification nor an associated calling party identification.

11. The method of claim 3 wherein the first NXX call is a 555 NXX call.

12. The method of claim 3 wherein the step of inhibiting completion of the first NXX call includes sending the call to a terminating announcement.

13. A system for providing a telecommunication service comprising:

a receiver to receive a plurality of queries associated with a first NXX call, a second NXX call, a third NXX call, and a fourth NXX call, the first NXX call and the second NXX call to a first number, the third NXX call and the fourth NXX call to a second number, the first NXX call absent of associated automatic number identification, the second NXX call including associated automatic number identification and a determined station type, the third NXX call absent of both associated automatic number identification and associated calling party identification, the fourth NXX call having at least one of associated automatic number identification and associated calling party identification;

a service control point to process the plurality of queries to form a plurality of responses, the service control point to determine that the first number accepts only calls having automatic number identification associated therewith and the determined station type; and

a transmitter associated with the service control point, the service control point to convert the first number and the second number to a network address, the service control point to send the plurality of responses, the plurality of responses to inhibit the completion of the first NXX call to the first number because a call to the first number not having an associated automatic number identification is not to be completed, to complete the second NXX call to the first number because the second NXX call includes both the automatic number identification and the determined station type, to inhibit completion of the third NXX call to the second number because a call to the second number having neither associated automatic number identification nor associated calling party identification is not to be completed, and to complete the fourth NXX call to the second number.

The system of claim 13 wherein the receiver further receives a query associated with a fifth NXX call to a third number, the fifth NXX call absent of both associated automatic number identification and associated calling party identification, wherein the service control point forms a response to the query, and wherein the transmitter sends the response to complete the fifth NXX call to the third number.

15. The system of claim 13 wherein the first NXX call is a 555 NXX call.

16. The system of claim 14 wherein the first NXX call, the second NXX call, the third NXX call, and the fourth NXX call are unordered calls.

17. The system of claim 14 wherein the response for at least one of the first NXX call and the third NXX call is operative to send the call to a terminating announcement.
