1. A method for monitoring the neutral temperature of a railway rail, the method comprising the acts of:

  • installing at a rail site a field sensor system to collect data relating to the neutral temperature of a rail at the rail site;

    logging a first set of data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail at the rail site;

    collecting the first set of logged data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail using a data collection device;

    storing the first set of logged data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail on a storage medium;

    logging a second set of data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail at the rail site;

    collecting the second set of logged data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail using the data collection device;

    storing the second set of logged data relating to the neutral temperature of the rail on the storage medium; and

    accessing the storage medium and analyzing the first set of logged data and the second set of logged data by displaying a representation of the data on a display screen.
