Abstract

A video poker machine configured to allow a player to play a card game is provided. The video poker machine includes at least one display device, at least one input device and at least one computer configured to display at least five cards all face up in at least two hands, each hand having the same five cards. One or more of the face up cards from each hand can be selected as cards to be held. The cards not selected to be held from each hand are discarded and replaced with a face up card, and a poker hand ranking is determined based on the resulting cards of each hand. The player can be provided a pre-established amount based on an amount of a wager made on each hand if the resulting cards of the hand comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

Claims

1. A video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to;

(a) cause the one display device to display at least a first hand and to display a second hand of at least five cards all face up, each hand having the same five cards;

(b) enable a player to select one or more of the face up cards from the first hand and the second hand and any additional hands as cards to be held;

(c) discard from each hand the cards not selected to be held and replace each of said cards with a face up card; and

(d) determine the poker hand ranking of the resulting cards of each hand.

2. The video poker machine of claim 1, wherein the computer is configured to:

(a) enable the player to make a wager on each hand; and

(b) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the wager on each hand if the resulting cards of said hand comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

3. A video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to;

(a) enable a player to make a wager on each of at least a first hand and a second hand in a card game;

(b) cause the one display device to provide the player at least the first hand and to display the second hand of at least five cards all face up, each hand having the same five cards;

(c) enable one or more of the face up cards from the first hand and the second hand and any additional hands as cards to be held;

(d) discard from each hand the cards not selected to be held and replace each of said cards with a face up card;

(e) determine the poker hand ranking of the resulting cards of each hand; and

(f) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the wager on each hand if the resulting cards of said hand comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

4. A video poker machine configured to allow a player to play a card game, said video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to;

(a) cause the one display device to display at least five cards all face up in at least two hands, each hand having the same five cards;

(b) provide the player the option of playing each hand by selecting one or more of the face up cards from each hand as cards to be held;

(c) discard from each hand the cards not selected to be held and replace each of said cards with a face up card; and

(d) determine the poker hand ranking of the resulting cards of each hand.

5. The video poker machine of claim 4 wherein the computer is configured to:

(a) enable the player to make a wager on each hand; and

(b) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the wager on each hand if the resulting cards of said hand comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

6. A video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to;

(a) enable a player to make a wager;

(b) cause the one display device to display at least five cards, all face up, in each of at least two hands, each hand having the same five cards;

(c) provide the player the option of playing each hand by selecting one or more of the face up cards from each hand as cards to be held;

(d) discard from each hand the cards not selected to be held and replace each of said cards with a face up card; and

(e) determine the poker hand ranking of the resulting cards of each hand; and

(f) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the wager on each hand if the resulting cards of said hand comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

7. A video poker machine configured to allow a single player to play a card game, said video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer, wherein said computer is configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to for at least one play of a game;

(a) enable the player to make a first wager;

(b) enable the player to make a second wager;

(c) after the player makes the first wager and the second wager, cause the one display device to display to the player;

(i) a plurality of first cards face up in association with the first wager and,

(ii) a duplicate of the plurality of first cards face up in association with the second wager,

(c) after receiving an input by the player, cause the one display device to display to the player;

(i) a card face up in association with the first wager, and

(ii) a duplicate card face up in association with the second wager,

(d) cause the one display device to display to the player;

(i) two more cards face up in association with first wager, and

(ii) two more cards face up in association with the second wager, which may be duplicates of or different than said two more cards associated with the first wager,

(e) determine a poker ranking of the cards associated with the first wager,

(f) determine a poker ranking of the cards associated with the second wager,

(g) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the first wager and the poker ranking of the cards associated with the first wager if said cards comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking, and

(h) pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of the second wager and the poker ranking of the cards associated with the second wager if said cards comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

8. A video poker machine configured to allow a single player to play a card game, said video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer, wherein said computer is configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to for at least one play of a game;

(a) enable the player to make a plurality of wagers;

(b) after the player makes the plurality of wagers, cause the one display device to display to the player, for each wager, a plurality of duplicate cards face up associated with said wager,

(c) after receiving an input by the player, cause the one display device to display to the player, for each wager, a duplicate card face up in association with said wager,

(d) cause the one display device to display to the player, for each wager, two more cards face up in association with said wager, wherein for each wager the two more cards associated with each wager may be duplicates or different,

(e) for each wager, determine a poker ranking of the cards associated with said wager, and

(g) for each wager, pay the player a pre-established amount based on the amount of said wager and the poker ranking of the cards associated with said wager if said cards comprise a predetermined poker hand ranking.

9. A video poker machine comprising:

at least one display device;

at least one input device; and

at least one computer configured with one of the display devices and the at least one input device to;

(a) cause the one display device to display a first hand of at least five cards all face up;

(b) cause the one display device to display a plurality of additional hands of each of the same said at least five cards all face up;

(c) enable a player to select one or more of the face up cards from the first hand as cards to be held;

(d) discard from each of the additional hand the cards not selected to be held and replace each of said cards with a face up card; and

(e) determine the poker hand ranking of the resulting cards of each of the additional hands.
