1. A method for obtaining a spatially accurate wavelength-resolved image of a sample, the method comprising the steps of:

  • illuminating the sample with a plurality of photons to thereby produce photons scattered by the sample; and

collecting the scattered photons through an optical device to thereby obtain a spatially accurate wavelength-resolved image of the sample, wherein the illuminating photons do not pass through the optical device, wherein the step of collecting the scattered photons includes obtaining plural sets of scattered photons, wherein each set of scattered photons contains photons in a predetermined wavelength band different from the predetermined wavelength band of the other sets of scattered photons, andwherein a spatially accurate wavelength-resolved image of the sample is obtained from each set of scattered photons.
