1. A damper comprising:
- a pressure tube forming a working chamber;
a pressurized gas disposed within said working chamber;
a piston disposed within said working chamber, said piston dividing said working chamber into an upper working chamber and a lower working chamber;
a reservoir of said pressurized gas in communication with said working chamber;
a first fluid line extending between said reservoir and said upper working chamber;
a first valve disposed within said first fluid line;
a second fluid line extending between said reservoir and said lower working chamber;
a second valve disposed within said second fluid line; and
a first control unit in communication with said first and second valves, said control unit opening and closing said first and second valves;
whereinthere is no fluid communication between said first fluid line and said second fluid between said reservoir and said pressure tube.

Abstract
A gas damper includes a gas pressurized working chamber and valving within the piston to control flow of the gas through the piston. A system is in communication with the working chamber to control the gas pressure within the working chamber in order to control the damping characteristics of the damper. An electronic control unit is utilized to control the opening and closing of the valving within the piston to also control the damping characteristics of the damper.
