1. A production method of an electrophotographic photosensitive member which has a photosensitive layer formed on a cylindrical supporting member, characterized by producing a surface layer of the electrophotographic photosensitive member, the surface layer having surface depressed portions which are formed by:

  • (1) producing a coating liquid which contains a binder resin and an aromatic organic solvent (A) whose dipole moment found by dipole moment calculation by structure optimized-calculation using semiempirical molecular orbital calculation is 1.0 or less, and in which the content of the aromatic organic solvent is 50% by mass or more and 80% by mass or less based on the total mass of solvents in the coating liquid, andcoating the coating liquid on a layer to form the surface layer,(2) condensing the surface of the surface layer to form liquid droplets and the depressed portions thereon, and(3) drying the surface layer after the depressed portions are formed by condensation.
