1. An implantable lead system, comprising:

  • an elongated lead body defining a longitudinal axis and comprising an electrical conductor extending between a distal end of the lead body and a proximal end of the lead body;

    an electrode mounted on the distal end of the lead body, the electrode being coupled to the electrical conductor;

    one or more passive fixation mesh sections coupled to the lead that encourages tissue over growth and is adapted to transition between a collapsed state wherein it assumes a non-planar form allowing it to at least partially wrapped around the lead body and an extended state wherein it projects outward from the lead body; and

    an edge formed of silicone and secured to the mesh sections only around a perimeter of the mesh sections.
