Abstract

A splicing device to join a first web material coming from a reel being fed (BA), to a second web material (NB), coming from a reel standing by (BB), comprising two heads (107A, 127A; 107B, 127B), each of which comprises: a roller (129A; 129B) associated with a clamping bar (143A, 145A; 143B, 145B) to hold an initial edge of the second web material (NB); a counter-pressure member (109A; 109B) cooperating with said roller (129A; 129B) to press said first and second web material (NA, NB) against each other; a cutting member (111A; 111B); a moving unit (113A; 113B), on which said counter-pressure member (109A; 109B) and said cutting member (111A; 111B) are carried. A first common control member (121) is provided to cause, by the movement it imparts to the moving unit of one or other head alternately: pinching of the first and second web material between the roller (129A; 129B) and the counter-pressure member (109A; 109B); cutting of the first web material; and release of the second web material.

Claims

1. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein;

a first common actuator member is mechanically connected to the moving unit and is adapted to impart movement to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material.

2. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each said moving unit is carried by a carriage movable along a track to adopt at least two operating positions.

3. Splicing device according to claim 2, wherein the moving unit of each said head is provided with a movement of oscillation about a first axis of oscillation controlled by said first common actuator member.

4. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein the moving unit of each said head is provided with a movement of oscillation about a first axis of oscillation controlled by said first common actuator member.

Splicing device as claimed in claim 4, wherein each said moving unit is disposed essentially symmetrically with respect to a plane, each unit extending from an axis of oscillation which is positioned in proximity to the plane of symmetry, the counter-pressure member and the cutting member being positioned at a greater distance from the plane of symmetry with respect to the axis of oscillation.

6. Splicing device as claimed in claim 5, wherein said first axis of oscillation is common to each said moving unit.

7. Splicing device as claimed in claim 4, wherein said first axis of oscillation is common to each said moving unit.

8. Splicing device as claimed in claim 4, wherein the counter-pressure member of each of said heads comprises a roller supported by a respective one of the moving unit about an axis of rotation, essentially parallel to said first axis of oscillation.

9. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said first common actuator member is disposed under or over an axis or axes of oscillation of the moving unit of each of the two heads.

10. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a brake associated with said moving unit to hold the first web material during the cutting.

11. Splicing device as claimed in claim 10, wherein each brake is supported oscillating about an axis of oscillation on a respective one of said moving unit.

12. Splicing device as claimed in claim 11, wherein said brake comprises an oscillating arm hinged to said moving unit about an axis of oscillation essentially parallel to the axis of oscillation of the respective moving unit.

13. Splicing device as claimed in claim 10, wherein each said brake cooperates with a counter-pressure surface integral with said clamping bar.

14. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each said roller associated with a respective one of said clamping bar is supported by an oscillating arm associated with a stressing member that stresses the roller against the respective clamping bar.

15. Splicing device as claimed in claim 14, wherein said stressing member is a piston-cylinder actuator that acts, at least temporarily, as an elastic stressing member.

16. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, further comprising a counter-blade cooperating with said cutting member which is integral with said clamping bar.

17. Splicing device as claimed in claim 16, wherein said counter-blade is disposed adjacent to a counter-pressure surface with which a braking means cooperates.

Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said roller of each head is carried by a first moving support suitable to alternately adopt a first operating position, wherein the roller is in a position to cooperate with said counter-pressure member, and a second position, to allow preparation and clamping of a free edge of the second web material and feed of the web material.

19. Splicing device as claimed in claim 18, wherein said first moving support is provided with an oscillating movement about an axis of oscillation.

20. Splicing device as claimed in claim 18, wherein said clamping bar of each head is carried by a second moving support suitable to adopt an operating position and a non-operating position.

21. Splicing device as claimed in claim 20, wherein said second moving support is adapted to oscillate about an axis parallel to the axis of oscillation of the first moving support on which the respective roller is disposed.

22. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each said cutting member is positioned at a greater distance from the axis of oscillation of a respective one of said moving unit than a distance at which said counter-pressure member is positioned.

23. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein said cutting member comprises a toothed blade.

24. Splicing device as claimed in claim 1, wherein each said clamping bar and said roller associated therewith are carried by a respective moving slide.

25. Splicing device as claimed in claim 24, wherein each said moving slide carrying the clamping bar and the roller associated therewith of each head are connected to means to support reels of an unwinding device.

26. An unwinding device comprising means to support and handle reels of web material and a splicing device according to claim 1.

27. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material; and

including means acting selectively on one or another of the moving unit to block one of the two heads, which is to remain deactivated.

28. Splicing device as claimed in claim 27, wherein said means comprise an arrangement of stops.

29. Splicing device as claimed in claim 27, wherein each said moving unit is carried by a carriage movable along a track to adopt at least two operating positions.

30. Splicing device as claimed in claim 27, wherein the moving unit of each said head is provided with a movement of oscillation about a first axis of oscillation controlled by said first common control member.

Splicing device as claimed in claim 30, wherein each said moving unit of the two heads are disposed essentially symmetrically with respect to a plane, each unit extending from an axis of oscillation which is positioned in proximity to the plane of symmetry, the counter-pressure member and the cutting member being positioned at a greater distance from the plane of symmetry with respect to the axis of oscillation.

32. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material;

wherein the moving unit of each said head is provided with a movement of oscillation about a first axis of oscillation controlled by said first common control member;

wherein each said moving unit is disposed essentially symmetrically with respect to a plane, each unit extending from an axis of oscillation which is positioned in proximity to the plane of symmetry, the counter-pressure member and the cutting member being positioned at a greater distance from the plane of symmetry with respect to the axis of oscillation;

wherein said first axis of oscillation is common to each said moving unit; and

wherein the plane of symmetry contains said common axis of oscillation.

33. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material; and

further comprising a brake associated with said moving unit to hold the first web material during the cutting, a second common control member which controls the brake of one or another of said two heads alternately, and an arrangement of stops adapted to act selectively on one or another of said brake to block one said brake to deactivate a respective one of said heads.

34. Splicing device as claimed in claim 33, wherein said second common control member is disposed essentially at a side of the first common control member.

35. Splicing device as claimed in claim 34, wherein each brake is supported oscillating about an axis of oscillation on a respective one of said moving unit.

36. Splicing device as claimed in claim 33, wherein each brake is supported oscillating about an axis of oscillation on a respective one of said moving unit.

37. Splicing device as claimed in claim 33, wherein said second common control member comprises a pair of piston-cylinder actuators in parallel.

38. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material; and

further comprising a brake associated with said moving unit to hold the first web material during the cutting, wherein each brake is supported oscillating about an axis of oscillation on a respective one of said moving unit, said brake comprising an oscillating arm hinged to said moving unit about an axis of oscillation essentially parallel to the axis of oscillation of the respective moving unit, and axes of oscillation of each said arm of each said brake associated with the two heads are disposed at a side of the common axis of oscillation of the moving unit, each said arm extending on opposite sides with respect to the common axis of oscillation.

39. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material;

wherein each said moving unit is carried by a carriage movable along a track to adopt at least two operating positions; and

, wherein said track has a stop member cooperating with stops integral with each said moving unit and having interruptions at least at a level of the operating positions of said moving carriage, to allow selective movement of one or another of each said moving unit by means of said first common control member.

40. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material; and

wherein a temporary clamping member of an initial edge of the web material to be clamped between the clamping bar and the roller is associated with each said clamping bar and with a respective one of the roller.

41. Splicing device as claimed in claim 40, wherein said temporary clamping member comprises an oscillating surface cooperating with said roller.

42. Splicing device as claimed in claim 41, wherein said oscillating surface is connected to the second support, which carries the clamping bar.

43. Splicing device as claimed in claim 42, wherein said oscillating surface is connected to said second support by means of a piston-cylinder actuator.

44. A splicing device to join together a first web material and a second web material, comprising two heads, each head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common control member adapted to cause, through movement imparted to the moving unit of one or another of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material; and

wherein said first common control member comprises a pair of piston-cylinder actuators in parallel.

45. A splicing device to join together a first web material coming from a reel being fed, and a second web material, coming from a reel standing by, comprising two heads, each said head comprising:

a roller associated with a clamping bar to hold an initial edge of the second web material;

a counter-pressure member cooperating with said roller to press said first web material and said second web material against each other;

a cutting member;

a moving unit, oscillating about an axis, on which said counter-pressure member and said cutting member are carried;

wherein a first common actuator member is mechanically connected to the moving unit and is adapted to impart movement to the moving unit of one or other of said two heads alternately, pinching of the first web material and said second web material between the roller and the counter-pressure member, cutting of the first web material, and release of the second web material;

wherein each said moving unit of the two heads are disposed essentially symmetrically with respect to a plane of symmetry.

46. Splicing device as claimed in claim 45, wherein each said moving unit of the two heads are adapted to oscillate about a common axis lying on the plane of symmetry.

47. Splicing device as claimed in claim 46, wherein each moving unit extends from the axis of oscillation moving away from said plane of symmetry, the counter-pressure member and the cutting member being positioned at a greater distance from the plane of symmetry with respect to the axis of oscillation.

48. Splicing device as claimed in claim 45, wherein each moving unit extends from the axis of oscillation moving away from said plane of symmetry, the counter-pressure member and the cutting member being positioned at a greater distance from the plane of symmetry with respect to the axis of oscillation.

49. Splicing device as claimed in claim 45, wherein each said roller of the two heads and each said clamping bar associated therewith are disposed according to symmetrical arrangements on two supports.

50. An unwinding device comprising means to support and handle reels of web material and a splicing device according to claim 45.
