Abstract

Systems, devices and methods for identifying, displaying and assisting in correlating health-related data. One aspect is a programmable device having machine executable instructions for performing a method for use in correlating data to manage a patient'"'"'s health. In various embodiments, data related to the patient'"'"'s health is acquired. The acquired data includes one or more trended health-related parameters, and at least one of one or more predetermined health-related events and one or more health-related alerts. Correlations are identified. The one or more trended health-related parameters and the at least one of the one or more predetermined health-related events and the one or more health-related alerts establish a causal relationship between the acquired data and the patient'"'"'s health.

Claims

1. A programmable device comprising a computer-readable medium for storing a computer-executable process for use in correlating data to manage a patient'"'"'s health, the process comprising:

acquiring data related to the patient'"'"'s health, including;

acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended health-related parameters, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended health-related parameters includes acquiring a parameter data series for use in determining atrial fibrillation percentage changes and a parameter data series for use in determining activity log changes; and

acquiring at least one alert data series for one or more health-related alerts, wherein each of the one or more health-related alerts represents an alert condition for directing an alert to a patient or a clinician when a predetermined alert definition is satisfied;

determining a correlation among the data, including determining a correlation coefficient for the at least one parameter data series and the at least one alert data series, wherein determining a correlation among the data includes automatically identifying a causal relationship with respect to the patient'"'"'s health, wherein automatically identifying the causal relationship with respect to the patient'"'"'s health and displaying the causal relationship that has been automatically identified includes automatically searching for a correlation between atrial fibrillation percentage and activity log changes;

performing an action using the determined correlation coefficient, wherein the action is useful in managing the patient'"'"'s health; and

displaying the causal relationship that has been automatically identified.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein determining a correlation among the data includes displaying the acquired data in a manner useful to visually identify a correlative relationship.

3. The device of claim 2, wherein displaying the acquired data in a manner useful to visually identify the correlative relationship includes displaying the acquired data using a portable device.

4. The device of claim 2, wherein displaying the acquired data in a manner useful to visually identify the correlative relationship includes displaying the acquired data using a wellness monitoring device (WMD).

5. The device of claim 2, wherein displaying the acquired data in a manner useful to visually identify the correlative relationship includes displaying the acquired data using a programmer device.

6. The device of claim 2, wherein displaying the acquired data in a manner useful to visually identify the correlative relationship includes displaying a cursor to visually correlate the acquired data.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended parameters includes acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter.

8. The device of claim 7, wherein acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to stress.

9. The device of claim 7, wherein acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to anxiety.

10. The device of claim 7, wherein acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to depression.

11. The device of claim 7, wherein acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to anger.

12. The device of claim 7, wherein acquiring at least one mental/emotional parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to excitement.

13. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended parameters includes acquiring at least one environmental parameter.

14. The device of claim 13, wherein acquiring at least one environmental parameter includes acquiring at least one altitude-related parameter.

15. The device of claim 13, wherein acquiring at least one environmental parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to temperature.

16. The device of claim 13, wherein acquiring at least one environmental parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to air quality.

17. The device of claim 13, wherein acquiring at least one environmental parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to pollen count.

18. The device of claim 13, wherein acquiring at least one environmental parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to humidity.

19. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended parameters includes acquiring at least one patient symptom parameter.

20. The device of claim 19, wherein acquiring at least one patient symptom parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to pain.

21. The device of claim 19, wherein acquiring at least one patient symptom parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to dyspnea.

22. The device of claim 19, wherein acquiring at least one patient symptom parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to fatigue.

23. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended parameters includes acquiring at least one diet parameter.

24. The device of claim 23, wherein acquiring at least one diet parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to sodium intake.

25. The device of claim 23, wherein acquiring at least one diet parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to lipid intake.

26. The device of claim 23, wherein acquiring at least one diet parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter related to liquid intake.

27. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring at least one parameter data series for one or more trended parameters includes acquiring at least one medication compliance parameter.

28. The device of claim 27, wherein acquiring at least one medication compliance parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter regarding insulin intake.

29. The device of claim 27, wherein acquiring at least one medication compliance parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter regarding diuretic intake.

30. The device of claim 27, wherein acquiring at least one medication compliance parameter includes acquiring at least one parameter regarding beta-blocker intake.

31. The device of claim 1, wherein the acquired data includes data acquired from at least one implantable medical device (IMD).

32. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring data related to the patient'"'"'s health includes acquiring one or more trended health-related parameters, one or more predetermined health-related events, and one or more health-related alerts.

33. The device of claim 1, wherein the correlation includes a Pearson'"'"'s product moment correlation.

34. The device of claim 1, wherein the correlation includes a multivariate correlation.

35. The device of claim 1, wherein the action performed using the determined correlation coefficient includes automatically triggering a therapy change based on the determined correlation coefficient.

36. The device of claim 1, wherein the action performed using the determined correlation coefficient includes automatically displaying the correlation using the determined correlation coefficient.

37. The device of claim 1, wherein acquiring data related to the patient'"'"'s health includes acquiring data from an implantable cardiac rhythm management device.

38. The device of claim 37, wherein acquiring data from an implantable cardiac rhythm management device includes acquiring a parameter sensed by the implantable cardiac rhythm management device.

39. The device of claim 38, wherein acquiring a parameter sensed by the implantable cardiac rhythm management device includes acquiring a heart rhythm parameter, a breathing parameter or an activity parameter.

40. The device of claim 37, wherein acquiring data from an implantable cardiac rhythm management device includes interrogating the implantable cardiac rhythm management device to obtain device performance status.

41. A programmable device comprising a computer-readable medium for storing a computer-executable process for use in correlating data to manage a patient'"'"'s health, the process comprising:

acquiring data related to the patient'"'"'s health, including;

acquiring one or more trended health-related parameters; and

acquiring at least one of one or more predetermined health-related events and one or more health-related alerts;

determining a correlation among the one or more trended health-related parameters, and the at least one of the one or more predetermined health-related events and the one or more health-related alerts, wherein determining a correlation among the one or more trended health-related parameters, and the at least one of the one or more predetermined health-related events and the one or more health-related alerts includes automatically identifying a causal relationship with respect to the patient'"'"'s health; and

displaying the causal relationship that has been automatically identified, wherein automatically identifying the causal relationship and displaying the causal relationship includes automatically searching for a correlation between atrial fibrillation percentage and activity log changes.
