Abstract
A soybean cultivar designated S040132 is disclosed. The invention relates to the seeds of soybean cultivar S040132, to the plants of soybean S040132, to plant parts of soybean cultivar S040132 and to methods for producing a soybean plant produced by crossing soybean cultivar S040132 with itself or with another soybean variety. The invention also relates to methods for producing a soybean plant containing in its genetic material one or more transgenes and to the transgenic soybean plants and plant parts produced by those methods. This invention also relates to soybean cultivars or breeding cultivars and plant parts derived from soybean variety S040132, to methods for producing other soybean cultivars, lines or plant parts derived from soybean cultivar S040132 and to the soybean plants, varieties, and their parts derived from use of those methods. The invention further relates to hybrid soybean seeds, plants and plant parts produced by crossing the cultivar S040132 with another soybean cultivar.

18. A method of introducing a desired trait into soybean cultivar S040132 wherein the method comprises:
-
(a) crossing a S040132 plant, wherein a representative samDle of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession PTA-8310, with a plant of another soybean cultivar that comprises a desired trait to produce progeny plants wherein the desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, modified fatty acid metabolism, modified carbohydrate metabolism and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease; (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have the desired trait to produce selected progeny plants; (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the S040132 plants to produce backcross progeny plants; (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have the desired trait and the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean cultivar S040132 listed in Table 1 to produce selected backcross progeny plants; and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times in succession to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise the desired trait and all of the physiological and morphological characteristics of soybean cultivar S040132 listed in Table 1. - View Dependent Claims (19, 20, 21, 22)
