1. An ultra wideband receiver, comprising:

  • a self-noise suppression means for receiving incoming ultra wideband wavelets, and for suppressing noise generated by the receiver by using a noise suppression code to generate noise-suppressed ultra wideband wavelets;

    a detection waveform generation means coupled to the self-noise suppression means for receiving the noise-suppressed ultra wideband wavelets and locally generated ultra wideband wavelets and generating a detection waveform having encoded therein a transmitted data source,wherein the noise suppression code is the same length as a transmit code used to encode the incoming ultra wideband wavelets,wherein the noise suppression code differs in value from the transmit code, andwherein the noise suppression code is not an inverse value of the transmit code.
