1. A processor-readable medium storing code representing instructions to cause a processor to perform a process, the code comprising code to:
- receive a parameter signal associated with a selected pressure level of a vacuum pump coupled to a wound dressing including a porous substrate and a cover membrane;
receive a pressure signal from a sensor coupled to the wound dressing, the pressure signal associated with a pressure in the wound dressing; and
output a control signal to a pulse width modulating circuit, the control signal operative to change the vacuum pump from a first mode to a second mode, the first mode being associated with a negative pressure in the wound dressing, the second mode being associated with a negative pressure in the wound dressing lower than the pressure associated with the first mode, the control signal being based on the parameter signal and the pressure signal, the pulse width modulating circuit configured to output a pulse width modulated signal having a duty cycle associated with a flow rate of the vacuum pump.

Abstract
An apparatus includes a fluid permeable dressing and a cover membrane configured to extend over the fluid permeable dressing. A tube is coupled to the fluid permeable dressing and is configured to apply suction through the fluid permeable dressing. A fluid reservoir is coupled to the cover membrane, the fluid vessel including an inlet port configured to receive a fluid and an outlet port fluidically coupled to the fluid permeable dressing.

16. A processor-readable medium storing code representing instructions to cause a processor to perform a process, the code comprising code to:
-
receive a parameter signal associated with a selected pressure level of a first vacuum pump coupled to a wound dressing including a porous substrate and a cover membrane; receive a pressure signal from a sensor coupled to the wound dressing, the pressure signal associated with a pressure in the wound dressing; and output a control signal operative to change the first vacuum pump from a first mode to a second mode when the pressure in the wound dressing reaches a predetermined threshold, the code to output the control signal being further operative to actuate a second vacuum pump coupled to the wound dressing, when the first vacuum pump is in the second mode. - View Dependent Claims (17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)

-
receive a parameter signal associated with a selected pressure level of a vacuum pump coupled to a wound dressing including a porous substrate and a cover membrane; receive a pressure signal from a sensor coupled to the wound dressing, the pressure signal associated with a pressure in the wound dressing; generate an alarm condition signal when the pressure signal received from the sensor indicates that the pressure in the wound dressing is below a predetermined threshold; output a control signal operative to control a vacuum pump in a first mode until the pressure in the wound dressing reaches the predetermined threshold; and output an actuation signal to a resistor-capacitor (RC) circuit, the actuation signal operative to control the vacuum pump in a second mode to substantially maintain a steady state pressure in the wound dressing after the pressure in the wound dressing reaches the predetermined threshold, an output of the RC circuit configured to gradually increase a flow rate of the vacuum pump until the flow rate of the vacuum pump reaches a predetermined flow rate, a rate of increase of the flow rate being proportional to a rate of increase of a voltage across a capacitor in the RC circuit. - View Dependent Claims (24, 25, 26)
