1. A method for transmitting data from a participant device in a session in an Internet Protocol (IP) system, the method comprising:

  • sending at least a first Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP) packet of the session to a first address wherein the at least a first RTCP packet comprises an uplink talker arbitration message; and

    sending at least a first Real-time Transport Control Protocol (RTCP) packet of the session to a second address configured to receive the uplink talker arbitration message, the at least a first RTP packet and the at least a first RTCP packet being sent by the participant device.
