- transmitting a message over a first frequency from a first handie talkie at a first location to a second handie talkie at a second location;
in response to receiving the message with the second handie talkie, transmitting the message over a second frequency from a post radio at the second location to a mobile radio at a third location;
transmitting the message over the second frequency from the mobile radio to a cross band repeater at the third location; and
transmitting the message over a third frequency from the cross band repeater to a third handie talkie at a fourth location.

Abstract
A command post radio provides for more reliable radio communications between two or more locations using handie talkies by incorporating in the use of a command post radio. In one embodiment, a firefighter on a fire floor of a building can use a handie talkie to send a signal to a post radio on a floor below the fire floor. The post radio can boost and transmit the signal to a mobile radio and Cross Band repeater in a Battalion car where the signal is then transmitted to a handie talkie carried by the Battalion Chief in the lobby of the building. The Battalion Chief can respond to the firefighter on the fire floor via the same path. In addition to use by fire departments, the post radio can be used by different groups for different operations.
