1. A financial system comprising:
- a uniform apply interface configured to receive a generic transaction, and to automatically apply, independently of any account that may be associated with the generic transaction, by linking the generic transaction to at least one of a plurality of other transactions in the financial system to produce at least one apply record; and
a database configured to store the at least one apply record, wherein the generic transaction has a standardized structure that is not tied to a data schema or structure of any particular account module, wherein, after receiving the generic transaction and prior to carrying out the automatic apply, the uniform apply interface is configured to determine, based on at least one apply rule, which of the plurality of other transactions in the financial system is suitable for automatically applying to the generic transaction.
