1. A method of terminating a cable having a plurality of twisted signal pairs of conductors and an internal spline with a connector, said method comprising:
- providing a conductor divider having a plurality of divider channels for separating and arranging signal pairs of conductors of said cable in fixed planes and a double post entrant barb;
inserting said double post entrant barb into said cable such that each post of the double post entrant barb fits into a corner of said internal spline flush to the end of said cable;
untwisting said twisted signal pairs of conductors of said cable;
placing each untwisted signal pair into one of said divider channels such that individual conductors of said twisted pairs emerge from said conductor divider opposite said cable;
providing a load bar having through holes adapted to separate said individual conductors and arrange said individual conductors into a plurality of fixed planes;
inserting said conductors of said twisted pairs into said through holes of said load bar, thereby forming a termination subassembly comprising said conductors, said conductor divider, and said load bar;
inserting said termination subassembly into a cavity of a connector housing; and
electrically terminating said individual conductors in said connector housing.

The invention is a modular cable termination plug having a conductor divider having an entrant barb and a plurality of divider channels, a load bar having a plurality of through holes and a plurality of slots, and a plurality of contact terminals. Additionally, the invention may include a housing, a strain relief collar and a strain relief boot.

1. A method of terminating a cable having a plurality of twisted signal pairs of conductors and an internal spline with a connector, said method comprising:

providing a conductor divider having a plurality of divider channels for separating and arranging signal pairs of conductors of said cable in fixed planes and a double post entrant barb; inserting said double post entrant barb into said cable such that each post of the double post entrant barb fits into a corner of said internal spline flush to the end of said cable; untwisting said twisted signal pairs of conductors of said cable; placing each untwisted signal pair into one of said divider channels such that individual conductors of said twisted pairs emerge from said conductor divider opposite said cable; providing a load bar having through holes adapted to separate said individual conductors and arrange said individual conductors into a plurality of fixed planes; inserting said conductors of said twisted pairs into said through holes of said load bar, thereby forming a termination subassembly comprising said conductors, said conductor divider, and said load bar; inserting said termination subassembly into a cavity of a connector housing; and electrically terminating said individual conductors in said connector housing. - View Dependent Claims (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
