1. A desymbolizer for receiving and decoding a multilevel communication signal, comprising:

  • an analog-to-digital converter for receiving and decoding the multilevel communication signal and comprising a plurality of comparators;

    a signal integrity unit coupled to the analog-to-digital converter, comprising a microcontroller for controlling a threshold voltage of each comparator located in the analog-to-digital converter, the microcontroller calculating at least one of a cumulative distribution function and a probability density function derived from the multilevel signal and associated with the threshold voltage of each comparator, and a digital-to-analog controller coupled to inputs of the comparators of the analog-to-digital converter.
