1. An optical system comprising:
- a first array of independent axial optical elements having a first longitudinal axis; and
a second array of independent axial optical elements having a second longitudinal axis in electromagnetic communication with said first array of independent axial optical elements and relatively disposed such that said first and said second longitudinal axes are skew and such that multiple focal points are created for incoming parallel light;
wherein said first array comprises two films separated by fill material, and said second array comprises two films separated by fill material.

Abstract
The invention divides the lens focusing process into two or more surfaces that incorporate multiple curved axial optic elements on each surface. The axial optics may be manufactured by molding, machining, or by suspended film. If suspended film is used, then both sides of an optic may have a suspended film that is transparent. Alternatively, one side of the suspended film optic may use a reflective film.

9. An optical system comprising:
-
a first array of independent axial optical elements having a first longitudinal axis; and a second array of independent axial optical elements having a second longitudinal axis in electromagnetic communication with said first array of independent axial optical elements and relatively disposed such that said first and said second longitudinal axes are skew and such that multiple focal points arc created for incoming parallel light; wherein said first and said second optical arrays form a screen having a plurality of cells, wherein the cellular (screen pixel) level of cross-talk experienced by the adjoining cells of said screen along the vertical and horizontal axes is between less than 1% and 5%, using screen-cell height/width ronchi rulings to independently measure vertical and horizontal cross-talk of individual cells based upon no less than a 100 screen pixel by 100 screen pixel contiguous area.
